KB’s Coffee House: Pouring Community into Monroe, NC

KB’s Coffee House is just one of the many new coffee houses that I’ve tried in the Charlotte area in the past year. And like every other coffee location that I’ve written about so far, this particular coffee shop has something about it that makes it extra special. Sure, big box stores like Starbucks and Dunkin’ make okay coffee. But I share places like KB’s with you because they’re more than just good coffee.

Monroe is already home to so many amazing coffee shops…it’s no wonder that KB’s Coffee House fits in so well! And trust me when I say that they’re positively adding to the Monroe community, all while serving up some amazing brews.

Creating Community at KB’s Coffee House

KB’s Coffee, located just a few miles from downtown Monroe, NC, is a fairly new shop in the Union County coffee scene. In April of 2023 they took over what was formerly known as Hazel’s Coffee House (Hazel’s was the first coffee shop that I wrote about here in North Carolina!). Despite being one of the “babies” of the Union County coffee family, KB’s Coffee House has already started to make its mark on Monroe, NC.

You don’t have to be a regular at KB’s Coffee to see that they are all about community and pouring love back into those that support them. If you go check out their Facebook page, you can see that KB’s has already initiated and hosted several community events in the short amount of time that they’ve been open. From “Coffee with a Cop” to several shout-outs from other locally-owned businesses….it’s clear that KB’s Coffee is making itself a well-known, well-loved community name in Monroe.

I am going to venture to say that it is impossible to go wrong with coffee from KB’s Coffee House. I’ve now been there a handful of times, and each time I find something new and delicious to try. What makes them so unique? There are a few things actually!

During my first visit to KB’s Coffee I discovered that they offer coffee ice cubes. Sure, you can get normal ice cubes that will potentially water down your liquid gold and alter its taste. But you can also get coffee ice cubes, which only add to the longevity of the flavor in your coffee cup. In a world where coffee is everything, these coffee ice cubes immediately take a higher rank.

Next time you’re at KB’s try the coffee ice cubes!

Coffee ice cubes aren’t the only neat thing about KB’s Coffee House. No matter what time of the year that you visit, they always have unique and fun drink offerings. Every time I visit I make it a habit to try something different. And so far I have not been disappointed. My favorite so far? The Funky Monkey– a dreamy combination of banana, peanut butter and chocolate flavors. I tried it iced with coffee ice cubes, of course.

I’m not the only one that’s noticed KB’s Coffee House. When I’ve talked about the location with my other coffee-loving friends, many make note of the drive-thru that KB’s offers. Unlike many other locally owned coffee shops, KB’s offers the convenience of drive-thru ordering- something many parents appreciate!
