Ingredients

Homemade Raspberry Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Chocolate Raspberry Latte

  • 4 ounces espresso equivalent of two espresso shots
  • 1 cup milk steamed, I used 2%
  • 2 tbsp homemade raspberry syrup
  • chocolate syrup enough to swirl around glass and on top

Instructions

Homemade Raspberry Syrup

  • Put the water and sugar into a saucepan on the stove. Cook for approximately 1-2 minutes. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, add in the 1 cup of fresh raspberries. Cook on medium heat until the berries break down, approximately 8-10 minutes. Once it starts to boil, turn the heat down to low. Stir occasionally to help break down the berries.
  • Once the berry/sugar water mixture is done cooking and the berries have broken down, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and into a jar. If needed, use a spatula to help force the syrup through the sieve. From the jar, pour the syrup into a reusable bottle.
  • Place the bottle, top open, into a cold-water bath while the syrup cools. Once it has cooled you can store it in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.

  • Brew your two shots of espresso.
  • While the espresso is brewing, steam your one cup of milk. If you do not have a steamer, you can heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat on the stove and froth it with a hand frother.
  • In your mug, pour 2 tablespoons of the homemade raspberry syrup. Then swirl the chocolate syrup around the inside wall of the mug.
  • Pour the two shots of espresso (4 ounces total) into your mug. Then pour the steamed milk on top of the espresso. Add the milk foam at your leisure.
  • On the top of the foam, swirl more chocolate sauce. Once you've done this, the drink is ready to be served!
