Saturday Morning Sip N’ Share: Pushing

Good morning my friends! Here we are at yet another Saturday morning. I’ll be honest…I almost took a break from this week’s sip n’ share. But here I am anyway, and as a result I have decided to make this week’s theme “pushing.” Do you push yourself to do better? Are you one to push yourself beyond the limits? I want you to think about those things as we get this conversation started.

I’ll be real with you…I just took the last sip of my coffee! But I hope you have your cup of whatever makes you happy. Now find that cozy spot and let’s chat.

Pushing Myself

This week I have definitely been pushing myself more than normal. My six year old looked at me last night and said, “Mommy, you’ve been spending too much time on your phone lately.” And you know what I said to her? “You’re right, I have been.”

My business has picked up quite a bit this week. Because it’s still very new to me, I’m still figuring out how I want to schedule and maintain it. I’ve been pushing myself to promote it more, trying to keep the traction going. But man am I sick of looking at a screen! I’ve never in my life had a job where I had to look at a computer for more than 1-2 hours at a time. Looking at a computer all day is exhausting…I don’t know how some of y’all do it!

Before blogging I felt like I spent too much time doing silly stuff on my phone. But now my phone and computer have become this extra “limb” that I can’t ignore. Except I realize that there are times when I’m going to have to ignore it. Priorities, friend…love my blog and my business, but I can’t be around it all of the time.

And so in a situation like this, I start to push myself again. This time, instead of pushing myself to get work done, I start pushing myself to rest.

The Need for Balance

I’m not sure what’s shifted in my mindset lately, but all of a sudden I find myself pushing for balance in other places, too. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m in my mid-30s? Or maybe it’s the fact that I no longer have toddlers in my house, and all of a sudden our dynamic is changing? Whatever it is, I have found myself pushing to have my surroundings shift to become more peaceful and more simple.

So you’re probably wondering what that means exactly. Well, for one, I have found myself wanting to purge a lot of things that our family has held onto for some time. These are things that have sat hidden, or things that we haven’t touched in years. And while the clutter (kids are so dang messy) is obviously bothersome, I think it’s more so that I just want simplicity around me.

I recently changed the set up in my office, and it has made such a big difference. It’s funny how changing your surroundings, even the slightest bit, can push your mind to a different level. I find myself thinking clearer, and becoming more productive as I make these changes. But of course, like I talked about above, I have to balance myself or my creative mind goes crazy!

Pushing Myself Towards Greatness

I hope my ramblings this week made sense. At first I thought about going back and restructuring this entire post, but then I changed my mind. Leaving my writing as it is allows y’all to get a good glimpse into the crazy, jumbled, beautiful world that my brain has been lately.

If you have a creative mind, you probably understand what I’m talking about. In the last couple of months I feel like my brain has gone to new heights of ideas, learning and creativity. I love it, but it’s also a lot to keep under control.

But for now, I will run with my wild mind and try to keep up with everything that it is gifting to me. After all, it has brought me some success this week. I made my first digital download sale in my Etsy shop (I actually ended up making 3!). My Pinterest has somehow brought my blog and shop all kinds of new attention. Everything that I’m working hard towards is finally falling into place, and it’s so exciting!

How Do You Push Yourself?

Do you ever push yourself? What is it that you’re working towards lately? Just remember that if your heart and mind really want whatever it is, you will find a way to make it happen! It might not be easy, but if it’s worth it then you will get there.

As always, I thank you all for sticking by me as I go on this crazy journey of blogging/creating/growing. Your support is literally everything, because without it I wouldn’t be able to continue doing what I’m doing.

If you have a minute today, could you invite a friend to check out my blog? Or if you haven’t done so already, sign up for my email list (you get a freebie!). You’re the best!

Until next time…

-Meg

Love that you pushed through even though you weren’t up to it! And I appreciate the crazy jumbled! If it is you, then let it be known! I’ve been thinking I need to get going on a weekly blog post of some sort. Once I get moved and settled I’ll have to go for it! My life right now is really only about getting ready for the move! Almost there! Have a wonderful upcoming week!
